Jhulana Yatra 2025 at Shri Jagannath Mandir, Thyagraj Nagar, Delhi
What is Jhulan Yatra?
Jhulan Yatra is a sacred five-day celebration dedicated to Lord Krishna and Radha Rani, where the divine couple is lovingly placed on a beautifully decorated swing (jhula). This joyful festival symbolizes their eternal love and divine play (leela) during the monsoon season. In 2025, Jhulan Yatra will begin on Monday, 04 August, and culminate on Sunday, 10 August.
A Tradition Rooted in Devotion – The History Behind Jhulan Yatra
The origins of Jhulan Yatra come from Vrindavan and Mathura, where devotees lovingly remembered how Krishna would swing Radha under the blooming Kadamba trees. These jhulas became symbolic of divine love, nature, and joy.
In Puri and across Jagannath temples, this leela is celebrated with Jagannath, Balabhadra, and Subhadra seated on a swing in the temple premises, signifying the union of human emotion and divine celebration.
